Default Outside for business

We are on day 2 and we are taking the puppy out very often, trying once an hour. When I take her outside she is more into playing with the leaves and every other noise around her. She never does her business, after a 20 to 30 minute hang out she never goes take inside a bam potty time.

Any suggestions??

Thanks
J

Where are you when she goes in the house? If you are right there with her, calmly pick her up, take her back outside. If she finishes, praise, praise and praise some more. If she is able to "go" inside out of eye sight, then tether her to yourself with her leash. Usually if you catch them and get them outside quickly without negativity, they will catch on pretty quick.

I have caught her a couple time and picked her up and took her outside. Its like when she gets outside she has lost the erge. He actually plays with the leaves or sits down right next to me and doesn't move until i move. I move away from her she walks right to my feet and sits down like a gaurd dog. She never pulls on the lead at all really.

Especially if there are two of you and your young puppy just came home- take turns taking her out and shorten the inverval to 30 minutes. Also if you can just get a few chances to reward her for going outside you will be way ahead- as soon as you stop playing with your puppy- pick her up and go outside. As soon as she finishes eating- pick her up and go outside. As soon as she wakes up from a nap- pick her up out of her crate and take her outside. (always carry her so she doesn't get a chance to have an accident between the crate and the door!)

Young pups sleep a lot, if you can't watch (use tether method mentioned above!) her and she is sleepy just let her take a nap in her small crate. Wake her up when it is time to go out and carry her outside.

Always take the BEST treats outside (i used a lot of plain cooked chicken or deli turkey since it was easy) so you can reward like crazy.

Dogs get distracted outside, my rule is I have the dog on the leash, I go to the potty spot and just stand still and count to 60 or a little more, then just go back in no big deal.

it's only the 2nd day. the 2 of you will are going to
coordinate the timing. take her out, bring her in and
go back out 10 minutes later. learn her signs for wanting
to go. she can only poop in thehouse when you're not
watching her.
