puppy biting during walks

Hi there,

I have a 3 month old GSD Mix and she behaves well when she's inside the home, Very little to no biting whatsoever. I have her enrolled in basic puppy obedience classes and they've given me some tips on how to deal with the biting. They said that there is very little that can be done because they are puppies and are naturally teething. Whenever I take her out on walks she bites my ankles and hands frequently, to the point where she breaks skin every time. In the house, i simply redirect her biting to a toy and that has been working fine, but does anyone have any tips on what to do during walks? She gets extremely excited when she sees ANYONE and cries and bites when someone walks right by her without greeting her. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Maybe she is trying to get your attention so that maybe you chase her around, go for a run or something along those lines? She's outside, she wants to play! Try that and tell me how it goes :)

See bite inhibition, but I have a little bite machine too. I wear an old pair of pants but Malika will latch on and enjoy the little game. Not what I want, but I'm not using bitter apple yet. This looks like a good thread. Good luck!
