Default reaction to christmas tree

Our pups will be seeing a Christmas tree for the first time this year. What are the chances they will ignore it as if it's invisible? What was your dog's reaction the first time he/she saw a lit up Christmas tree?

Mine are pretty good with the christmas tree. They don't bother it on purpose for the most part. If they are playing or a cat is under there, then its a whole new ball game. I find that ornaments that look like balls should be higher up on the tree.

Hah, we'll find out today 8 months, completely willful and determined. I'm going to use this opportunity to teach a rock solid "leave it" LOL. I may be insane by the time Christmas arrives.

Or ... I might be very pleasantly surprised.

Mostly my dogs don't care. I have had to move ornaments that look like stuffed toys a little higher up on the tree. We usually get a blue spruce which has very sharp needles. That keeps the dogs and the cats away.

"Gigantic Toy!"

We had a Blue Spruce every year in the living room and growing up on the farm we had one dog ever, a cocker spaniel that ignored the tree. All the other pups had to be pulled away a few times.

Took less than an hour to get them to leave it alone so it wasnt a large issue.

I put mine up on Thansksgiving day...I will decorate it next week and I will decorate it slowly to see if any ornaments are missing

So far so good! I only got the lights on, no decorations yet. He's not paying any attention at all. I'm being cautiously optimistic

My dogs have never bothered a tree. Now, the cats, different story! Some years, the bottom fourth of the tree is naked from broken ornaments, so we usually now leave that section bare, and it's not unusual for the tree to fall over once. But, it is fun watching them enjoy "their" tree!
