Default Refusing to go outside after it rains

My dog is 9 months now and this is a new problem, just for the last two to three weeks. Winter was fine. The little bit of fall weather was fine. The ending of last summer was fine. This spring she refuses to go outside after it's rained. She will not go to the bathroom. After it's been sunny for a day or two she's back to normal. But we're supposed to have rain for the next several days so this is an issue.

I've tried being firm and calm and just standing there fifteen minutes. I've tried taking her out on the leash instead of the usual tie out. I've tried moving the tie out to the front yard. Nothing is seeming to work. Any ideas?

My parent's have a cocker spaniel who hates walking outside when it's wet, she picks up her feet like she's walking on hot coals lol She doesn't like it, but she now tolerates it, just keep being calm yet firm and continue to use the leash if necessary

If the dog sees that you enjoy the rain, I'm sure they will too.

I have a Shiba Inu who most be forced to go outside when the pavement/ground is wet. She doesn't want to get her prissy feet wet. Some dogs, apparently, just do not like it to the point they'll refuse unless forced.

After it has rained, I put down sawdust on the muddy spots. She deals with it better that way.

Good luck!

My male hates his feet wet. He's OCD about his feet. He hates dirt on his feet, too.

It does help to play with them outside. Mine does that fine...then comes in and I help him clean his feet.

It isn't the rain she minds. I walk her in the rain and she's all right as long as we stay on pavement (I more or less force her to walk through the grass when it's raining just to try to get her ok with it). It's just the actual going to the bathroom in the mud and wet grass AFTER the rain she wont do. I'll get some sawdust and play with her out there. Hopefully that'll do something. Thanks for all the ideas.

My dog is the same way. She goes to a designated spot, which is paved with interlocking stones. She does not like going there after a rain or after we wash it. I'm thinking she does not like the smells.

Strange how different they are. Mine see a mud puddle as an irresitable invitation to get dirty.
