Well, an update and quicker than I had anticipated!
I took Bear downtown to do some shopping at the Building and Stationary stores, both of whom allow him in as a CGC dog in training. Great time there. Then we went back to the Surf Club because I had dropped one of my sandals yesterday. Found it on top of the nearest rubbish basket that have nice metal cowlings on them. I love civilized people! There was a Truck rally on and we went to have a look, and there were Tractor Truck rides. One of the drivers spotted Bear and was in Love so we got a ride around town in the cab. Then off to the Dog end of the beach and found it crowded, with *dogs* for a change! It is the informal version of the Dog Park. Bear was on best behaviour and played happily with several of them. There were two GSD's Mom and Son who were both full grown. Bear payed with Flame the (intact) Male quite happily but the Mom was grumpy and barked at him when he pawed her in a Play invite. He very quickly and calmly backed off and came (on his own) to sit quietly by me for a while, then went back to running and playing. So, to this point I'm going to call it a Good Outcome. No way to tell for sure whether it is a lesson learnt, but it does show that he wasn't long-term freaked by the Boxer Incident. We'll have to meet another Boxer at some point soon I guess. Bear has his first formal Obedience lesson in a group of dogs Monday. I'll write and tell you how it went.
