Default When a pup first lifts his leg do they lose control of urinating?

My pup has not pottied in the house for over a month and a half now. There is a bell on the door and he taught himself to nudge it everytime he wants to go out. I never showed him because i thought he was too small to reach it but he uses it.

But today he peed in the house...once ok...i put him out and i saw him lift his leg half way for the first time. Then he peed again about 3 more times today in a couple diff places. He didn't ask to go out or maybe i shouldnt take for granted those bells.

But i dont understand...he is 4 and half months and was NOT going in the house for amount 2 months now but today it seemed like when i first brought him home all over again.

Does something happen to them/his bladder/penis when they start lifting their leg? or how can this be explained.......

Also, his penis has been hanging out a lot lately (it goes in and out-not stuck out) and when i saw today...the urine seemed to be "spraying" out rather than the usual "flowing"...not sure if that means anything or makes a diff

Anybody know???

He might have started marking inside the house as he is getting older and more sexually mature. Potty train him all over again. Watch him really well and take him outside when he starts urinating. Correct him with a verbal correction right as you see him urinating inside. You might want to take him to the vet to make sure he doesn't have a UTI or some medical issue that is causing him to urinate more frequently. Make sure you remove all traces of urine by using a good enzymatic cleaner like Nature's Miracle so that he isn't tempted to urinate again in the same place. Make sure there is a good structure in place so the pup feels comfortable in his status in the household and he isn't tempted to set his own rules. Never correct him physically or unfairly. If you don't plan on breeding, you might consider neutering. This helps stop marking with some dogs.

Just lifting the leg doesn't mean they will mark inside. My male has been lifting his leg since he was 7 months old, but he has never marked inside. He does mark outside.

It's normal for the penis to come out and retract. If it stays outside or shows signs of problems, take him to the vet to check him out.

Take him to the vet, check for UTI. If it is not UTI, you have a training issue. Neutering does not fix a training issue, especially on a 4 1/2 month old puppy! Also, a puppy is not concerned about going about setting his own rules.

After you've taken him to the vet and he is given the medical clear, you need to go back to basics. Tethering, outside after sleeping, playing and eating. IF you catch him pottying inside, pick him up and run out the door and do not go back inside until he has pottied. Do clean with natures miracle and follow the directions closely.

What is his daily schedule like? How much exercise/training/mental stimulation is he receiving?
