Does anyone have any tips for dealing with leash reactivity (both strangers and dogs) in a 9/almost 10 month old pup? With dogs it is not fear based- she loves dogs and plays great at the dog park. However, on the leash she goes crazy and we can barely hold her. With people, she will bark and lunge at some people and not at others. After a while, she calms down and will let them pet her, but the issue really worries me.
Can you please share your story if you've worked through this issue with your dog and explain how? I am trying to use the clicker/treats when we pass the stimuli and remain under threshold, but I haven't really seen any improvements since I started training a few months ago. It is so frustrating! |

Our Shepherd/Husky mix goes ape on anything that barks at him when on the leash. We started just saying no and telling him to walk. The last three days he's only barked once.
We have to walk by 4 yards with dogs int hem that bark at us. I praise him when he doesn't bark or just whines... if he barks then i dont tell him good boy or pet him. |

I had the same problem with Harley at our dog class. Instructor fitted him with a pinch collar. Now he doesn't need it. But, if he misbehaves we put it back on. Most times he see's it and settles down.
