Yea, that is much more like all of our dogs and how they acted with our son. VERY good with him all the way from an infant in a child seat swing all the way up to teenager stage. Kid could do and take anything from him without anything except sometimes a look! of WHY?

What a wonderful update! Though I wasn't here when the thread started, I'm enjoying reading threads like this.
Codmaster... Just wanted to say that I'm with you on the subject with kids. I have a 1.5 yr old, and an 8 wk old pup. The pup will grow much faster than my son, and while I absolutely don't plan on letting my son "brutalize" our dog, I kind of expect there to be some tolerance between them, and I do believe it goes both ways. So far so good with that. Jeven is very tolerable of the puppy, which surprises me as he has been a bit animal apprehensive, and still is every now and then. He goes to the pup sometimes and balls up his fist and holds it out for the pup to nibble on, and in return, Tyde doesn't nibble that hard with him. He's using this "soft bite" thing I keep seeing references to, and more licks than anything. Where as with my daughter, who's 19, he likes to really chomp down on her. Jeven doesn't poke and prod him though... but he did take an old weathered stick about the size of a pencil but longer and bop him on the head with it... (the stick broke instantly). Tyde didn't do anything but look at my husband who shouted "AHHH!" at my son. Then he went back to following my son around. I think they're going to do just fine growing up together. I love reading old posts... and sorry for bringing this back to the top, but kind of not sorry at the same time... LOL... as it might help some other new owners out there that might be having the same issues.

The dogs would also lay on the floor and our son would crawl on the dog over and over again until they tired of the game and would get up (after he finished getting over them) and move to the other side of the room. Then our determined son would just crawl over to her and start all over again! really fun to watch the older female dog and our new little puppy and our son grow up together!! Good luck! And use your camera! |
