Default What a chicken!

I took Kira for her evening walk last night. It was dark, and there was a thick fog.
As we were walking, a woman had just gotten of a local bus, and was emerging from the fog. She had an awkward walk, and did look kinda creepy.

Kira stopped in her tracks, and just stood there as the woman walked towards us. I decided to just stand there, and let the woman pass.

As soon as the woman got within a couple feet, Kira made a dash behind me, an into the nearest bushes (which happen to be behind me). Not a bark, growl or single peep from her.
She was obviously very confused by the appearance of the woman emerging from the fog.

I'm not sure if I should laugh or be concerned.

I would rather see some curiosity about the strange person than a fear response. I know you are doing a lot of socialization. I know she is at a wonky age though I only saw that wonkiness with one of my own dogs....and he did have nerve issues (though my sample size is too small to be anything but anectodal)

She stood there and just watched and wondered about the dark figure. So I did see the curiosity. But as soon as that woman got close to her, she ran behind me.
THEN, as the woman passed, she came out and watched her walk away.

The woman had a hunchback type walk. LOL.
She scared me too

Puppy probably picked up on your discomfort. Being a woman, I learned out a long time ago one of the best ways not to be a victim was to ooooze confidence. That was AFTER the guy pinned up against a wall with a knife (but I got away)

Nah, I had no discomfort...if finding the person "creepy" means discomfort, then I agree.

I'm 6' 210lbs.... It's very unlikely, that a hunchbacked old lady could do much harm to me

I would have just kept walking and praised/assured the dog rather than stopping and reinforcing the dogs concern.

That's what I would have done.

However, we happen to be on a narrow sidewalk. I yielded to the woman, so she can pass.

It was one of those "I guess you had to be there" moments.
