My Shasta and our neighbors pit have always got along. They are only a couple I think 2 or 3 months apart. The first fight was my fault I was trying to get shasta into the house went to give her a treat to get her in an tripped and it fell. Well they both went after it. Got into a fight through the fence. Shasta ear hurt a little. But she was ok. Then a couple of days later (Thanksgiving day) the pit broke 2 boards out and My dog went into the neighbors yard. They were playing when I went to bring her back in. Then all of the sudden they started to fight. My son broke them up. Both we not hurt. Shasta just had her first heat cycle and Im sure if that is what it is. They are fine now and run the fence and try to play. I have ask them to fix the fence again. If they dont we bought some boards and are going fix it. Does anyone have any suggestions. Shasta is an inside dog and the pit is an outside dog.

There are so many factors at play it is difficult to say which is the driving force, but suffice it to say, if it were my dog, I would not let her play with the neighbor dog from now on.

Im not. I put bricks down all along the fence line. They like to dig to each other. I talked to my neighbor yesterday and let them know that the pit knocked another board down again. They do not spend anytime with her and She is kinda wild. She jumps on the fence and I told my neighbor and she just said she does that to the back door too. I dont let Shasta stay out like I did before. I feel bad for the pit but I dont want them to fight. We put two really big pots in front of the where the board was knocked out so they cant get to close to each other.

Wow, there is an easy fix for this.
Your dog no longer is in the yard unless YOU are in the yard. That way NO bad behavior will crop up. Fence digging and all the issues that can bring up. Barking and other neighbors. My 'yard' is not in charge of exercising, training or socializing my dog. I am. So if I need to walk my dog, I do. When I need to train and socialize my dog with people and dogs, I do, but I am present and in charge of the meeting. Don't even want to get into the leaving a bitch in heat unattended in the yard....... And if I had to stop using the back yard for more than brief times to get the pit used to the fact my dog is not longer their playmate, then I would. How are the dog classes going? Does your dog get along with other dogs in class? I know I make playdates with my dog class 'friends'.

I agree. While she was in heat and needed to go out, I had her on a leash and let her do what she needed and then brought her back in.
I do not let her play at all with the other dog now. And my Yard is not in charge of exercising my dog either. Class are going great. She is fine with other dogs. I walk her everyday classes on Saturdays, free play in house and training in yard and on our walks as well as in the house. I like the play date idea. Im going to try that. She is very friendly with other dogs and the pit, just sometimes, She is not allowed outside by herself anymore either.
