I was just wondering if anyone had an experience where your showdog was less landsharky as your working dog? Just a question that came to mind when my working dog puppy was gnawing on my arm. Lol

My show dog was less bitey by far, and my BYB dog was the least bitey of all. Saber wins the landshark award (WGWL).

The Highline pups were mouthy, but nothing like the WL pups. Having said that, in the last 20 years or so we've had probably 15+ WL pups and 3 Highlines, so not an equal comparison, but that's all I have to compare.
Now, as to client dogs, we get pretty equal numbers Highline vs WL (with the occasional American showline) and I can say that the WL are much more mouthy overall. However, the WL pups are easier to redirect IMHO. But that could be just because that is what we are more familiar with so know quicker ways to redirect. Annette

I don't think Babs, Jenna or Cujo were bitey at all. (Don't look at that nasty baby Babsy in my avatar.)
Arwen and Dubya's second litter produced 1 pup that was a shark. Every time I picked him up he would bite my nose. I sold him at 13 weeks old to someone who lives in Indiana. I told them, he bites. Babs' 1st litter was not very mouthy at all. Jenna's first litter was not mouthy. Joy was a sweetheart, and I had Shadow and Woden for close to six months, and they were not very mouthy. Chew you out of house and home, but not chew on you. Jenna's second litter, hmmmm. Bear and Dolly are both more mouthy than any of the others. Odessa's litter, Cupcake, she was a Shark, LOL, well maybe a piranha. Arwen never. Dubya wasn't. Rushie wasn't. ETA: Arwen was American line with about 3/16 German show; Dubya German show line; Rushie, 1/4 working, 1/4 American, 1/2 German show; Babs/Rushie pups, German show, with some American and a dash of working; Jenna/Gispo about 80+% German show line, the rest American; Cupcake, German Show. Maybe it is like what they say about childbirth, you forget the horrors of it. I keep a book for each of my dogs. It has all their papers, and titles, and health certs, etc. It is a binder with clear plastic covers, and I put a picture of them on the front and back. I was signing Heidi up for classes, and had the book, and one of the questions that I had previously sent in on the registration form, asked if your dog ever bit anyone, for which, I wrote no. However, I told the instructor, I lied on that, and turned over the book:

I had the opportunity to raise a WL litter and a SL litter that were 7 weeks apart.
VERY different! The WL pups were into everything..... constantly. The SL pups were easy-peasy. Stayed in the whelping box, stayed near when out free, not as barky.... just easier. The WL litter.... kept me entertained .

I have a showline, and I have never owned a working line, but my GSD was NEVER at ALL bitey or mouthy. I kind of have no idea what you guys are talking about when you call them landsharks. I mean understand what you are describing, but I have never experienced it. The worst I've dealt with is Niko taking treats roughly and losing a few layers of fingertip skin.

Lucy's half half WGSL / half WL and I'm still wearing shirts, pants, and jackets with rips and tears in them from her land shark puppy days.
Maybe it's the WL in her then.
