Kira was yelping for half the night. It was a routine night. I took her for a walk about 10pm, gave her a small snack, and she voluntarily went into her crate for the night. I watched a little TV, then went upstairs. About 10 minutes later, she was barking.
Knowing her as well as I do, I figured something was wrong, so I went downstairs to walk her (she didn't poop earlier). She felt like playing... But I didn't. SO I crated her, back to sleep I went. Few minuted later.... She's crying again. (She hasn't cried at night since the third night at home.) This went back and forth for a couple hours! I would get up, stay with her a few minutes, and each time she would seem OK, I would go back upstairs. Then it hit me.... Little chicken was afraid of the dark. I forgot to turn her little night light on. 2am... I turn the night light on, go back to sleep, at that was that. They may not be humans, but they sure act like babies. Lucky does not like the dark unless he has found an animal to chase which his mom does not like. I have older dogs but the light is on over are sink every night so my guys have always had a light. The light is for me b/c insulin reactions. But my dogs have never been in the dark I leave a light on in the basement as Lucky often goes there to stretch out or if Im gone till after dark there is a light. Kira likes the light ,its better to guard you w/.She is just trying to be the most effective alarm system she can be.(LOL)

I'd rather take the crate into my bedroom and save the money on the electric bill!

Oh my goodness that is so funny
I guess a night light is no different from me leaving a radio on when mine was a pup!

that is hilarious. My guys dont get night lights. We will sometimes leave the hall light on upstairs but they sleep downstairs the majority of the time so they're not bothered by it one way or the other. Riley will move away from light to sleep and Shasta just doesnt care.
