Default Snob

Sometimes our 5 month old puppy leaves the family room in the middle of a typical family evening and goes to an adjacent dark room and dozes. Is this normal? We joke a say we are "on her nerves" but I think it is true! I have only had a Golden Retriever before and he couldn't get enough of the family. Maybe we over stimulate her? I am hoping to find this is breed typical and not that she doesn't love us as much as we love her!

My latest pup has done this since she was about 3 months old. She will leave the room and go nap by the garage door. Partly I think she likes the quiet and partly she likes the cool brick floor. Now that she is a bit older(11mos this week) she has become more of a velcro dog, but if she is really tired she will find her spot and stay there all evening.

Here's a pic of her when she was little in her little corner.

Sometimes I'll find Sage asleep on the bathroom rug, or in her crate. Same thing with Carly. One will disappear to take a nap. They've done this since they were little...

Thanks! I feel better! The family room does have carpet and the other rooms she goes in don't. It could be the coolness of the floor. Or it could be two rowdy little boys wrestling constantly. We will just continue to call her names like snob. It fits her. She is quite sassy and proud acting!

For the most part my boy is sleeping in whatever room I'm in but will occasionally disappear and sleep on our bed...maybe it's the Tempur-Pedic matress he likes? ha ha

I think your pup finding a quiet place to rest is normal

My dogs go wherever the most comfy available sleep spot is, right now they're with me on the couch, but if the whole family is on the couches they go to my room on the bed haha. Sometimes Skylar will go into her crate alone, our home can get noisy for her with 5 dogs
