Oh dear.
I was watching my puppy (about 7mos) play with one of my male dogs. I noticed she was doing her normal pouncing, landing with her paws (lol) and jumping and mouthing on him...but then she would get down and flip around and face her butt to him . She would push her butt into his chest, then go back to pouncing on him and pawing him. She seemed frustrated and was whining . She was very playful and he was not amused... He was just mouthing her face like he usually does, lol.I have heard of this behavior with females who are in heat. I have not noticed any blood/discharge. Could she be in a silent heat and being flirty? Or is this just normal puppy play? My males are both long since neutered, and I have been waiting for her to reach a year before spaying. Any insight? I'm only minding about it because I bring her out and about and would prefer to know if she was in heat!!! |

Yes - it sounds like a silent heat. Is her vulva swollen at all? And is she flagging her tail off to the side?
You may want to keep the boys separated if they show interest and start mounting her - they can still tie even if they are neutered. It won't get her pregnant, but is something you probably want to avoid! |

My friend's female Doberman was very flirty with my male when she was in heat, she was all over him (my male is neutered).

There is no swelling at all...
However, there is a little bit of that rusty color because she does lick her crotch...but not an abnormal amount. I tried swiping a napkin around the area to see if anything showed...nothing. Ugh I am going to an event with dogs on sunday...should I leave her at home just in case? |

She is only doing this with one of the males, and only twice today...she shows the bahavior soon after she starts playing.
Also, is flagging just moving her tail over to the side? Or is there more to it? Anything else I need to look for? Is is possible for a vet to confirm this? My males are not acting interested in her in the slightest...and the older one, whom she flirted with, has in the past shown a very high interest about females in heat. Ugh...if only she could just bleed and not leaving me 2nd guessing LOL |
