Default You know you know

The little stinker KNOWS when I am on a conference call.
THAT is when he decides to repeatedly drop his nylabone in his dog bowl and dig in his dog bowl and do backflips in his crate........

IT is 10 pm and I just spent the past 15 minutes throwing balls every which way in a pitch black yard in the rain and making him work for them by throwing them in hard places to find. He has figure out it is more fun to bring them back and make me throw them again than to run around with them.

Come back in and he is just as full of wild energy as ever. I honestly think I am in for a rough ride but if I can survive puppyhood he should be a nice dog. Lord have mercy, he is only 13 weeks.

He has now declared war on a daddy long legs on the wall.

He wants to please but zowie - he is the kind of dog who could wind up in a shelter, I can see that. [LOL do NOT worry about that!-just saying sometimes folks don't know what they are getting - I did.....]

Last night he tried barking at me to get what he wanted and I got angry and yanked him out and threw him in a crate in another room and closed the door. .... wrong....I gave him attention for being bad, even if it was negative attention. He was not breaking any rule that needed correction; he was using his own resources to try to get what he wanted. Well I DID have a headache and a stuffy nose; it is wet leaves stuffy nose time.

This morning - he is learning the rule is no play until I drink one cup of coffee. Starts barking at me again. This time I remember what worked with Grim in the truck. Did not even LOOK at him, just blew him off and when he laid down and started chewing on his bone - lavish praise for being good.

Like I said - long time since having a puppy. Never had one quite this assertive and rambunctious. (or smart)--He is learning manners I wished I had taught to the other dogs.
