I was, and still am, a part of that Milie fan club....she sure was one special dog!!! I still have her picture by my desk at work and one on my fridge...I'll never forget her.

I also tend to avoid this part of the board after my many losses (four) between last Aug.-Dec. Three of them were pets I had to PTS for various reasons-2 cats, 1 dog. I was alone for each of them and thank God nothing like this happened. I'm glad someone was there through this horrible time. Thank you for sharing your story and Millie will be waiting for you will a joyful spark in her eye when it's time.

Donna, I am crying again. Wishing you some sense of comfort now. Thank you for sharing Millie's story with us! I just know Millie will be wagging to welcome you when you meet her again someday at The Bridge.

Millie was a very special dog and a wonderful inspiration as is Donna one of the many rescue angels on these forums.
Know she mentioned it in Shermies thread so am sure she doesn’t mind if I post this here but she has been writing a book about Millie – am hoping to be one of the first of many in line to read as am sure her book will be inspiring too.

Hello all,
I didn't realize this thread was still active. I'm glad I spotted it when I did, though, because as Sara mentioned, been working on a book about Millie for the past year. I never thought it would take this long, but I should have known better because work and family tend to knock me off my paths in life, as I'm sure everyone here can relate to. The pressure is on, with another deadline this Wednesday. Publisher has most of the materials now though. I was feeling good in terms of accomplishing things in the next few weeks, especially with childcare issues coming to an end with Melissa back in school soon, but my brother JUST announced he's getting married...in his backyard...in two weeks...labor day weekend. Despite such short notice, lots of out of state relatives are still coming, including my niece from Germany. Another curve ball to contend with. Just another reminder that life doesn't come to a halt when you're trying to get a book published, lol. Anyway, back to Millie. I appreciate all the comments. In fact, anytime anyone brings up Millie either here or in conversation, or talks about her as a change agent/mentor/teacher, I find it empowering and currently, motivating. The name of the book is "Nannie Millie", keeping it very simple. It's essentially a photo journey told mostly through captions similar to what I've done here and elsewhere, hopefully as entertaining as it is educational. I'll share more when I know more as many decisions have not been finalized yet. Still a long way off 'til publication, too. Maybe holiday release, yeah hopefully 2009, hehe. |

Donna ~ I am so sorry that you had to endure that. Losing Millie was hard enough but to have lost her in a way that made it worse....
I am so sorry that she passed like that. I agree with you that there's room for anger but not lawsuits... they are 'lucky' that it did not occur to a person without an open mind. I hope that there is a way for you to let us know when the book will be available.
