hi, I was wondering if the bitchs temp always drops before labor?

ok my bitchs temp was 99.7 this morning then 100.1 this afternoon now its 98.7..all week its been fluctuating from 99.9-101.0..this is the first drastic dip.

It does in many cases, but you should also be looking for other signs, nesting, refusal of food, restlessness, panting.

Usually it will fluctuate up and down and up and down, gradually getting lower. Then it will usually stay low for a number of hours, maybe 12 or more, before climbing up to around 100 or so before whelping actually begins.

It sounds like you are getting closer.

Agree with watching all the signs.

For my dogs, that drastic drop would mean they will start to whelp in the next 24 hours.

her temp is 99.3 and no puppies yet? shes breathing a littler faster and has been basically laying down all day
