We've used them, but the most effective thing was the heat mat, made specifically for dogs.
These do not, cannot over heat.

Holy cow! What a thread!

OP, it sounds like you guys are doing a great job. I look forward to seeing pics of the puppies as they grow.

Wow, talk about getting more than you bargained for!
They definitely look like Boxer puppies.
Hope you stay and keep us posted.

Heidi has been acting very restless the past 30 minutes or so, pacing just seems unsettled, and she's panting a bit too. She will check on the babies then paces. Right now I'm sitting by the pool and she's laying next to me while I pet her. We changed the bedding thinking that might be it but didn't seem too. Maybe she's just taking a bread from the bed? She didn't eat anything dog food but has had some eggs and cheese. She's settling a bit laying by me as I console her now.....

Take her temperature right away to see if she's running a fever. That would mean an emergency vet visit.

It could be that the whelping area is too hot for her.

Make sure you keep her calcium up. Yogurt, cottage cheese, etc. Lactating bitches can get low blood calcium (eclampsia) and they will act restless and weird.

I did read that online so I made hubby run out to get cottage cheese, ice cream and yogurt. Heidi is laying by me right now though she will check on babies every couple minutes or so
