The puppies are doing well. They are real landsharks right now. They are 5 weeks and 3 days old. I want to put a puppy packet together to send with them to their new homes. In the packet I want to include heath, house training, crate training, bite inhibition and vaccines tips. Also helpful ways of choosing the right food for new puppy. What do you think are good things to include in the puppy packet? I want them to have a little go to guide to help get them get their puppy well adjusted in their new homes with their families. I wish I had one to reference too. Open to suggestions. What do you thing would be good points to go over with new owners? I just want to prepare their new owners with how to raise happy and healthy puppy. I open to book suggsstions too. I can add that on a separate sheet. Thanks for your help.

You mentioned most of things that was in my packet. I liked that our breeder listed trainers that she recommended, it was actually how I found ours and she happened to be in my area which was a huge plus.
One thing that was smart on her part I thought was she put my puppy back in his pen so we could sit down and go over the packet and I was paying attention and not distracted with puppy cuteness

Great point! Trainer suggestions. I need to add that into the puppy packet for sure. Also go over it with them that way they don't just toss the packet aside. Thanks Courtney!

Our pup came with a vaccination record, 4 free training lessons (if you don't train, then what others have said, a recommended trainer), a bag of the current food the breeder was feeding, about a 50 page pamphlet on breed history, commands in different languages, hand signals, pictures of dogs with different emotions, developmental stages and what to expect, common problems, also pens, keychains to promote his business. Quite a package! Plus vaccinations were included except for rabies.

A blanket which has the litter's scent or toy is a great help to new puppy parents

I put my puppy policy, which includes things like when the puppy is ready -- why eight weeks, socialization, spay/neuter pros and cons, what is included -- puppy policy, pedigrees, registration application, contract, bill of sale, vet certificate.
A page on training. Odds and Ends -- what to expect from a new puppy, feeding, grooming, etc. Then I add some pages from the AKC, Common Household hazzards/poisons, Types of AKC events with a description of each, A page to fill out and leave in the car in the case of emergencies with numbers of people to call, and the dog's vet, and any health concerns. I was putting in a page of business cards, and had loaded it with cards from my vet, trainer, groomers, emergency vet, etc. and my own card, so that the owners would put cards of their vet, er in there and would always have all the numbers they need right there in their dog's binder. I use a regular 3 prong 1/2 inch binder, with clear panel over the front, and usually put a picture of the pup in the front. It is the pup's book and all of its papers, contract, everything is kept it one place. I keep the same book/binder for each of my dogs, and add training certificates and titles into it as they acquire them. In the front pocket I put the vet/vaccination certification, and usually a pamphlet/booklet by Patricia McConnel, How to be the Leader of the Pack - Dog Training Books at Patricia McConnell. It is just a small little booklet that gives some basic advice for starting off on the right foot.
