i have a question for the op just curious what happens when strangers go up to your gate and talk to ur dogs or try to offer their hand? is that when they want pets and give kisses? do they only bark when people are far away?

i wonder if they are just attention barking just barking cause they want someone to go close to give them attention??

they are just pets you can only protection train certain kinds of gsds like 10 percent of them if a dog doesnt have strong defense and good prey i dont know how they would do well in real protection being fair on the dog, dogs that do well in pp seem to just love love doing it if u take a house pet and try to make it work in pp it might be cruel for the dog, my dog loves to do pp it exicts her makes her happy euipment or no euipment the decoy is a fighting partner someone to scrap with and test herself out shes always loved to bite though but if i took my friends gsd and tried to do the same they would be miserable it just isnt fair for some dogs most dogs gsd or not

im curious about ur situation like what their reaction is just say somoene goes near the gate when ur not there
