Barron, Boston police k-9

After Bronson's obedience training with a police k-9 handler we stayed to watch Bronson's dad Barron ( a Boston police dog ) do some bite work. I can see where Bronson gets his intensity from.

Wow! Amazing ! And, I want that sign!

PS, can someone explain why both a harness and leash?

Debanneball,

the long line is used to get the dog to release once it has bitten, the harness is what you use to hold the dog back before it is released to bite. the reason you do not want to hold it by the leash on its neck before the bite is because the dog will see it as a correction, while pulling on the harness holds the dog back but offers no correction.
