Default Need help identifying our little man :)

So we are the proud new owners of a puppy rescue! Though our little man was not in the cards we expected (as I always wanted another shepherd) he won us over with his cute looks and playful personality. The back story of this little guy is that a local lady saved his mother from being euthanized due to her feeling compassionate for not only the dog but for the puppies she knew the mother was carrying. Our little man was 1 of a litter of 12. The lady claimed that his mother was of some sort of hound but because she was saved from animal control she had no idea what type of dog the father was. We are eagerly watching him grow to see what kind of dog he becomes but what do you guys think he may have in him?

By the way, this is my first true puppy (my GSD was 6 months when I adopted her) and let me tell you, he is a handful! Here are some pictures, any ideas of what breed he may be would be great! (he doesnt look too much like a hound either which is interesting)

He is adorable. But your right he doesn't look much like a hound. He resembles my american bulldog when he was a pup.

Not an expert, but definitely looks like he's got a little bully somewhere in there...Maybe a dash of boxer?

Shanny, I was thinking American Bull dog too, his siblings looked a lot more like American bulldogs as well. I guess only time will tell?

Very cute and definitely a bully breed in there somewhere.

In GA, it is almost a given that any pup in rescue will have some bully in the background. Unfortunately, everybody and his brother are throwing the breed together for breeding and some quick $$.

What a cutie. He is really young and will change a lot as he grows. My new GSD also turned out to be a little shelter mix. (Great minds think alike. HA!) I see the hound. Look at his tail - complete with a white tip. Bully? Maybe. Maybe not. In pictures, my boy used to look a little bullyish. He is 2 now. No bully breed that I can see. Mine seems to be beagle, JRT, and who knows what else. His ears and coloring are similar to your pups'.

Aside from appearance, you will start to notice breed traits. Those are more telling than appearance. My dog acts like a beagle. It is all about his nose. His bark is like a JRT. He also points like a Brittany spaniel.

Mixes are the best, because:
1. You can make up your own breed name, to keep people confused.
2. They always seem to have the best traits of whatever breeds they are.
3. They are generally very smart.
4. You don't know what you really have, until they are grown. (And maybe not even then.)
5. They are just about always entertaining.

Looks like this little guy is an awesome addition to your family. Keep posting pictures, so we can watch him grow.

Lol please God don't say beagle! It will be interesting to watch him grow and see what he becomes. My girlfriend has wanted a Catalouha Leopard Dog for a little while now and with each new spot he acquires she starts hoping he looks like one more and more. I guess without knowing for sure, just like stevenzachsmom said, he can be anything you want him to be!

Now if only he would quit treating his crate as his potty place we would be getting somewhere.
