Hi, my name is Lindsey. My husband and I just got a year old DDR GSD from a friend who didn't have time for him anymore. His name is Bear and he is a sweetie but definitely has some issues. Does anyone else have a dog that constantly circles? He is a pretty nervous dog so I am sure it has something to do with that. He is reactive to other dogs at first, we have three others, but warms up to them. His previous owner said he wasn't very affectionate but we have expierenced just the opposite. Bear is always following us around and laying his head in our laps for some loving. Here is a pic of our newest kid

He is a working dog and he is bored. My guess is he might have developed an obsessive behavior out of boredom due to lack of attention he received from previous owner. Seek out a trainer who can assist you in modifying his circling. Find an outlet for his energy. Give him a job. Maybe agility, maybe fly-ball, if his temperament is solid enough maybe schutzhund. He is beautiful and is worth the work. Congrat on your beautiful boy!

Hi Lindsey, Welcome! Your new kid is gorgeous and sounds like a sweetheart. So happy you brought him home. Our Mac "runs in circles". Does Bear run in circles in general or does he run in circles around you?

Thanks ladies!

Carrie he just runs in circles in general. He will run around things like the trees, the bbq, etc.

Athena's mom, Bear will be doing bite training after I get him neutered and he heals up. All my other dogs are rescues and I am a fan of spaying and neutering to prevent more dogs. We play fetch with him a bunch and walk him, as well as let him play with our three other dogs. Eventually I'd like to do schutzhund with him but not just yet. I have an awesome trainer that has worked with me and my three other dogs so I will go and see him. I am excited to work with Bear because he is the first dog I'll have worked with who could care less about food. My other three will do anything you ask for a treat, he is all about his toy. I am looking forward to a new style of training.

Thank you both for your replies!
