8 weeks and 7 months comparison

First off a couple questions.

I hear people talk about colors changing in GSD as they age. Is it normal for color not to change that much? Obviously he darkened up on the face a bit but really he looks almost the same. Do you think there will be any more changing from the point on?

Second I know he is sable but would he be considered dark sable? Like is he dark enough to be considered dark sable?

They say sables go through color changing till they reach the age of 3.

That dog is so beautiful. If I was getting a sable, it's exactly the look I'd want. Gorgeous.

Thanks guys. Its funny because before we got Scout my husband did not like the look of sable German Shepherds at all now he totally prefers them.

Here is a really bad quality picture of his dad from the breeder. I am just hoping he doesn't get as dark as him. (he looks a bit darker in person)

Very handsome dog. I have a soft spot for sables. It's interesting to see the changes they go through as they age.

I don't have a comparison between 8 weeks and now but here. Dax is getting darker still too.

Something I've learned, a good basis for color is look at the younger puppy pictures and you should be able to get a decent idea of adult coloration.

8 weeks old

if I remember right, about 12 or 13 weeks

about 6-7 months old

Hope that helps give you a rough idea.

Sables don't tend to stop changing until about 3-4 years old and they seem to darken and lighten with the seasons.

Your boy could very easily still have a lot of changing to do
