König's Potty Area!! :D

Made a little potty area for the pup. He rings the bells to go outside. Hasnt had an accident in over a month, so I'd say im in the clear? *fingers crossed/knock on wood*.

-Just used some 2x6's and nailed them together and burried them about two inches in the ground.
-Dug out some of the dirt from the center
-Laid down some weed blocker
-Poured in a few bags of small rocks
-Laid down more weed blocker on top
-Poured in large rocks over that
[then when we first started potty training.. he would just sit there and chew rocks...]
-So i then put pet-grade insect screen over the tops and anchored them down. --Then decorated so he feels at home when going potty ;)

Drains really well, a little circle is all thats left when he goes potty. Poo doesnt really stick to it, and i just spray it down with water a couple times a day as it gets soiled. So far no stink or anything either.

That's brilliant!

Now, I just need you to make one of those at my house. :)

Great idea. I really like it. I'm wondering how you anchored the insect screen. Also, any special training methods to keep him in his potty area until he goes?

Thanks for sharing. I might just do this myself.

Ah, I made sure to cut the edges to extend past the frame and used a spackling and a rubber mallet to stuff all the excess nicely into the sides. The weight of the rocks pushing against it actually held it in place pretty nicely but I also used sod staples and hammered then down along the edges. (To be honest the sod staples arent doing much to hold it down) I wish I thought to take pictures as i was building it.

And as far as training... hahah yea... I actually had to block the area off during the first week when he was a pup using some sheets of pegboard i had lying around the house. Hahah after I took away the pegboards he would keep trying to run off and go play. So sometimes i just stood in the middle holding the leash and let him do circles around me. Once his potty scent was already there I think he just sort've figured it out on his own. He's great about staying in the box now. Just does circles inside of it until he finds a nice spot to hunker down in. At 12 weeks he literaly treats it like his toilet. Doesn't even attempt to pee or poo outside of his 'restroom'. Hope this helps!
