Default Gsd?

Hi everyone,

About 2 months ago, I went to look at a dog at the shelter. It stated she was a GSD, 2 years old, but was found as a stray, so no one really knew. I was in LOVE with this girl. Beautiful silver sable, smart and oh so sweet. Unfortunately, when I introduced my dogs to her, they did not get along. Mainly it was my one male, but the GSD(ish) also reacted. When she showed her teeth and raised the hair on the back of her neck, she looked almost wolf like. Needless to say, we felt it was not a match, and decided not to take her. I was crushed and still think about her. She was adopted the next day, so Im relieved about that. Anyway, looking at her pictures, does it seem like she has some wolf in her? Her ears were a bit small for a GSD, and her snout was long like a malinois. Her paws and legs were very wolfy as well. What do you guys think? I thought she was gorgeous!

Nothing wolfy about this dog. Looks like a normal sable working line.

I don't see any wolf like features. She could potentially be a low content wolfdog, but no way of knowing.

I agree with Lucia and Wild Wolf. Sometimes the sables can look pretty wolfy when they show their teeth. I have a 7 month old solid black and when he shows his and raises his hackles, he looks wolfy (or he would if I wasn't spending so much time around wolfdogs lmao!).
Just for another opinion, I posted her to a wolfdog group I'm in. They all agree that there is very likely no wolf present, and at most she is a very low content. (:

Thanks for the input. You're right gsdloverr, she did look wolfy mostly when showing her teeth hehe. Also the small ears kind of threw me off, but seems like working line do have smaller ears. Was just curious. Its been almost 2 months and still think about her, hope she got a good home. Sometimes I regret not giving it a chance, but my other 2 dogs are much smaller and I didnt want to take the risk of anyone getting hurt. She was lovely though, and you cant beat a $25 adoption fee!

I never saw that look myself but when I slipped in front of a charging dog on ice, my GSD stepped in front of me and gave the charging dog that look! It must have been convincing because when I got to my feet that dog was gone!!

Pretty girl though hope she's happy.

She is gorgeous. Looks pb to me. I think it is mainly her coloring that would make people think of a wolf. And her huge feets!

I think she looks much wolfier than the dogs this is usually asked of. From the pix she looks lean, leggy & narrow with big wolfy snowshoes. Is she part wolf? No idea. The characteristics I mentioned could be due to camera angles, developmental stages or simple canine diversity. Some dogs just look more wolfy just as some wolves look more doggy. For her sake I hope she's all dog, little to no wolf.
