Anyone want to weigh in on her coloring?

The closest I can find is either a faded black and tan or black and red with bright points. And with all of her changes I'm starting to wonder if she is full GSD... (Not that we would love her any less!). Thoughts?

Sorry, I know they aren't the best quality. She doesn't sit still very often. Lol! The last one is my attempt to get the red/tan/cream in her legs and the red points on her tail.

Why would you think she's not a full german shepherd? Just wondering

Looks like a black and tan GSD to me.

Welcome from NE Ohio.

She's a black and tan GSD, where'd you get her?

SunCzarina 03-13-2014 07:37 PM

Since she changes color often and has all that red on her flanks, perhaps faded gold sable. Run your hand down her back a couple times and take a couple pieces of fur that come off. Not undercoat, that's all one color. If you look at the fur against a white background (like an envelope) and see 3 distinct bands of color - tan/red, silver/white with a black tip, you have a sable.

I'm sure someone will come along and tell me I'm wrong and there's more to it, yes I am aware of that but I have a migraine and this is a starting point.

Great looking shepherd....I'm not good at the "knowing the color scheme" but I can tell you this....her coat colors look wonderful.

Sometimes you catch her at an angle and she almost looks Mali. But just sometimes. She is all HSD attitude! :-)

Where I NE Ohio? We are in Portage County. We drove out to the Crawford County Humane Society for her. She was a surrender because the landlord I her previous owners would not let them keep her. We really lucked out. She was 10 months old when we picked her up and she has really blossomed in the last 9 months. She is my little shadow and absolutely loves to give hugs. :-)
