Honestly Melissa, he was a holy terror for the first year of his life and I wondered if he would ever just 'be' a dog, then around about 12/14 months all the socialising seemed to kick in and he started to be less interested in what other dogs were doing.
We are part of a pack that walks a few times a month, mostly big energetic dogs like him, I noticed at 16 months he was no longer interested in rough play and was a little less tolerant of being pushed around. At about 18/20 months, BIG changes, very focused on me, still fine around other dogs but suddenly very
responsive to commands; to where we are now, almost 100% focused on ''work" ( we do 90 mins -120 mins off leash work every morning, usually fetching and finding to a whistle). Pack walks bore him silly these days, so we don't go on as many as he's just not interested.
Don't get me wrong, I loved the puppy stages too, but I find our mornings a wee bit more relaxing these days knowing that no matter what kind of dog we meet out and about he just ignore them unless he knows them.
