Default My *almost* 9 month old

I only got one barely decent shot of my puppy today. It was really random but I managed to get a quick shot that wasn't really meant to be serious candidate. Since I'm used to shooting weddings, people, and cars I wasn't really prepared for what I was against. He was being really difficult but it was his first time seeing a camera other than at the humane society.

Nice job! I love the color play in the composition with the dog's eyes and the leaves on the ground in the background -- that's very, very pretty.

Getting good shots of black dogs' faces is hard.

Thanks I've been meaning to document his growing up but that also meant always having my dslr charged haha. I have noticed that my camera manual or automatic does not want to focus on him x.x' i've never had that issue before.

If you google "photographing black dogs," you'll get a ton of tips. I started researching it because I was having a lot of trouble getting photos of shelter GSDs for Petfinder that didn't look like black blobs -- there's a real art to capturing the expression in a black dog's face.

I'm a total amateur, but I've learned bright light on a black dog is the enemy. Indirect light and cloudy days work better.

Yeah i definitely know cloudy days work best x.x way less over exposure.
And the picture of my pup from the shelter we got him from was awful haha he blended into the background but he was still adorable he was estimated at four months when we adopted him.

I have found that to get a *decent* picture (with my phone, which has a better camera than my digital camera haha), I really need to take a HD video and then do a screen shot of a good paused image.
