Thanks, all. He's doing great.
Now that his antibiotics have kicked in, and his appetite has come back, he's feeling so much better. It's kind of amazing how a sick dog transforms quickly once they get the right meds. It took getting him into foster to get the meds for him though, since the shelter wasn't going to treat him due to a Doxycycline shortage. ![]() I love seeing the puppy inside him come out. That shy, scared, shutdown guy I met in the shelter is long-gone -- that was just sickness and loneliness. Now that he's been on antibiotics several days and has friends, he's a confident, playful, sociable, bouncy, snuggly and silly. All very age appropriate stuff. It's been...a while...since I've had a nibbly, get-into-everything puppy around. He's cracking me up with the things he finds interesting and covets -- he's apparently got the "toy collector gene" that some GSDs have (collecting all the toys he can find into his crate). |
