Zoey, week 2 with us
Just 2 weeks into her new home and Zoey continues to amaze me. All those treats for training she has put on the few pounds she needed. She is the sweetest, most loving dog I have ever had. Still operating on a street-dog mentality but so willing to learn. She has showed us a lovely alarm bark when strangers come to the door already. She gives a little bark of warning when she sees a strange man, same kind of alert she gives when she sees a squirrel. I'm okay with that.
Her worst habit is the "play" nipping she does when she goes into crazy puppy mode, racing around the yard. I know she just wants us to play with her and she has never been taught any manners, but we need to stop that ASAP. Hubby has been off work this week so we have been working together on it in the yard (which is where she gets really worked up.) He tried a few things that didn't work (sacrificed a pair of sweat pants and shirt) but now we mostly have her stopping to sit for a treat and racing back and forth between us. I watched a great video that Cassidy's mom recommended "It's Your Choice" "It's Yer Choice" - YouTube and then this one on Capturing Calmness which was also great. and both of them have helped a lot. Here's my pretty girl. http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8219/8...fe16e6c441.jpg http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8080/8...9879a93ca6.jpg http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8077/8...2e932b6b08.jpg http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8356/8...3a9fb142b2.jpg |
Wow she is a beauty! I love white shepherds :-)

She is beautiful! So glad you guys found each other. My dog is also a rescue and he has been absolutely amazing! Riley actually looks a lot like your dog... Beyond the fact that both are white, they seem to also have the same eye color and similar snouts!

She is just beautiful, and it sounds like everything is going great. I'm so glad that video helped!

Thank you everyone. She is really getting a lot of attention when we go out. And she is lapping it up. :)

Wow your pictures are breathtaking! She's gorgeous! What camera and settings did you use if you don't mind me asking? I just got a Canon t4i and I'm working on my skills.

Thanks, Ali. I have a Nikon D7000 and I'm usually shooting with the 70-100 lens. It's not super fast but it gives pretty good results with Zoey. (less fun trying to get birds with it.) I shoot almost always in aperture mode - most of these have an ISO of about 400 but there are some up to about 1000 ISO (maybe higher) as the backyard is pretty dark this time of year. No flash.
