New camera for christmas

Av actually means aperture priority mode. It's the setting to adjust how wide your aperture is. The higher the number, the smaller the hole that the light goes through. The smaller the number, the bigger the hole. It's a lot harder to focus with the lower aperture setting (like around 2.8), but it's a great way to get pics in low light.

The autofocus setting is in the lens, not on the camera.

right, but in simple terms, its just the clarity of the background. which like i said determines whether the foreground is more focused or the background

Yeppers! Makes for much prettier pictures when the background is blurry. Less distraction and more focus on the pretty dogs!

On a side note, my dog hates my camera. She doesn't like being the subject at all. Haha!

roman is ok with it as long as he's distracted by other things lol. i've already starting looking for a tripod and other lenses. i have the 18-55mm and the 75-300. but i'd like a wide angle and a macro lense. of course i'd also like a supertelephoto but that aint gonna happen anytime soon. lol

in late May or June we bought a Nikon D3100. 15 minutes
later the Nikon D3200 was available. . auto mode is my
best friend. nice looking dog. enjoy the camera.

woow the pics are just awesome i am very much impressed with its clarity. i am also using sony cybershot now days and both these are just great in their quality......

Great pix! What lens are lens are you using? How old is your pup looks almost exactly as mine except mine's ears are still floppy.

it's the cheap 75-300 lens that came with it. and he just turned 5 months
