Great pictures! I also got a Canon T41 for Christmas. I absolutely love it! Were these pics taken on the auto focus setting?

yes. and the first one was in sport mode. seems a little moody in that one. or i'm just a dummy. lol

They're all great pictures! I'm curious about your third picture (from the first set of pics you posted). When using the auto focus setting, did you use the touch screen to focus on your dog's profile, causing the background to be somewhat blurry or did the auto focus automatically zoom in on him and do that? Sorry if the question sounds dumb but I am just an amateur trying to learn everything about this camera!!

that may have been in one of the preset modes which i believe are automatically set to focus on the subject nearest to you. i know i didn't touch focus because holding the leash and working the camera doesn't allow a lot of time. but the custom mode Av has a setting that allows you to either focus the foreground more or to focus the background more. believe me, i'm new to this myself. i'm actually considering taking a photography class to learn as much as possible. i figure i'll learn the most right now by trial and error through A LOT of pictures.

Okay, got it! I actually understand what you just explained LOL! I'm really new to this also and I know this is alot of camera for me to take on but I'm determined to learn it!!! Thanks for your help!!
