Sage's day today:
Get up at 5:00 am to get a frosty bath, and blown dry before being shown:  Show your pants off in the ring (and get a major reserve):  Come home and pass out:

It's a lot of work. At least in obedience and rally a trip to PetsMart a few days before is enough in the area of grooming. And they seem to always show shepherds at some God-awful time like 8AM.
It is funny because someone once said something like, you might be a dog-person if you are always late for work, a little scruffy, and grumpy at 9AM, but can be immaculate and at ON at ringside at 8. I like the well-earned rest she is taking there.

Shepherds ALWAYS show early, ugh. Which means getting up really really early to groom. (for this show I need to leave my house at 5:30 am). It just seems so wrong, LOL. Make those slick coated dogs show early!
Yes, Sage is all about taking a nap.  I'm afraid she's going to be wiped out by tomorrow afternoon. Four days is a lot to show. Oh, and we showed in Chickasha OK today. I may move my other girl up tomorrow and show her in Best of Breed, if I don't need her to hold the major. I want to see my new champion back in the ring (silly, I know). |

Well, my day tomorrow at the show goes something like this:
Get up at 5:00 am Leave the house at 6:00 am Arrive at the show site at 6:30 am Start bathing shepherds immediately (we have 4 we are showing - 1 dog and 3 bitches) Start blow drying dogs, When they are almost dried, I take them out, one at a time, to pee & poop Finish grooming National Anthem plays Then I stand ringside with my handler & my girls. We show straight up at 9:00 am These 4 dogs will take from 6:30 am right up to 9:00 am to get ready. We are all frazzled, wet and crazy by then. The judging begins, and we see how it all shakes out. We have quite a few entered tomorrow (it's a 3 point major in bitches) but we'll be done before 10:00 am. When we are done, we either gripe or celebrate, LOL. Then go get the longhaired mini dachshund ready to show... If you are lucky enough to go Best of Breed, then you get to sit around half the afternoon waiting for the Groups to begin.
