I love HDR I wish my camera had the setting but I would have to use a tripod and manually change the exposure for each picture
I have a nikon D3100 which I love that is the only feature I really miss.I don't actually know how the software works for putting together an HDR picture or how much control you have but I personally like the bottom one the best. I like when HDR pics look natural but almost surreal if that makes any sense. The top two look a bit like a painting effect. Here is a link to someone's flickr photostream who does a lot of HDR Sullivan's_Wharf | Flickr - Photo Sharing! Sorry don't take this as a critique or anything I know you didn't ask for one just thought I would share some other HDR pic so others could see what you can do with the effect. I would love to see more of your HDR pics in the future! |

JakodaCD, here is a link to information about HDR. I think it explains it nicely.

i have the D3100 as well. There isnt anything built into the camera. I use adobe lightshow 3 and a plug in called HDR Express (Not free). All you need to do is take more than 3 photos. The exposure should be low in one pic and should be high in another. The rest are in between at all different exposures. The HDR express will take your photos and combine them together giving you an awesome picture. It looks best on landscapes and outdoor items.
Yea the pics of her are using a grunge effect which kinda makes it look like a painting Last edited by SteveRogers86; 01-28-2012 at 08:40 PM. |

Cool you have the same camera
How do you adjust the exposure between the three pics and not deal with camera or subject movement? Did you use a tripod? I took a pic of an old shack at the top of a hike I did the other day and your pics got me thinking I wish I could have done HDR with that one.I am a sucker for the landscape HDR's they just seem like a fairytale to me. But it is hard because you don't want to stop appreciating the original either

put the camera in program or manual mode and hit the I button. THe exposure setting is the third box on the bottom. Looks like a +/- symbol. Yes i used a tripod as it makes the pictures turn out better when it tries to combine the layers
