yeah thats real. and not unheard of. The cub is probably or was probably either abandoned by mom and someone took him in or more likely he was pulled from his mom in a zoo or sanctuary situation and hand raised with the help of the family dog for easier handling when he's older. Its even likely the GSD adopted the cub when the humans had to take over raising it.

Definitely a great shot.

The tiger program at the australia zoo, the keepers raise the tiger cubs that are born so they're easier to handle and able to interact with zoo guests and go to school events for education programs. They literally walk the tigers around the zoo. I'm hoping to be able to visit some time and see it in person. Supposed to be a pretty awesome experience.

There's another case at a zoo, somewhere here in the states where the keeps put a rottweiler in the cage with a tiger because the tiger was showing signs of depression after losing his cage mate so there is a dog and a tiger living together as friends and playmates.

Shepherd are known for adopting other breeds babies. King and I was on a walk and he is usually great on a walk. We used to stop in the back of a church and I would let him run off lead back there. We played catch and all of the sudden he stopped playing and looked like he was tracking. He stopped over a bunch of tall grass and refused to come back to me so I walked to him and the closer I got King laid down. When I got next to him King was licking a small kitten out there by himself. His eyes looked to still be closed and I started to leave the kitten yet King would not let me do that; he refused to leave. So I picked up a very small kitten and brought him home. King was super focused on the kitten all the way home. When we got home I was able to see the kitten had crud all over his eyes and was sick and dirty; and filled with fleas. I gave the kitten a bath and some canned dog food that was all I had. The next day King and I took the kitten to the animal hospital. The kitten was very sick yet I took on the responsibility to get him better; after some blood work and shots and some take home medicines we got to leave. King was still focused on the kitten who my daughter named Senorita Taco. Well the kitten became very attached to King also and I know she knew that King saved her life, they were always around each other. They slept together; played and were best of buds. Ms Taco did get better and recovered from all that was wrong with her. Sadly she was killed just before Hurricane Katrina by a few POS teenagers. When we put her to rest, King laid by her grave as if he was truly sad about the loss with the rest of my family.

For a year, I helped raise a tiger cub....the cub was actually raised by 2 Great Prynees females...they stimulated her, slept with her, watched over her...the cub really bonded to them, and would go for walks on a leash with them...even at a year, the one dog would spend time in the cage with the cat, and was able to even take food from her...

see! cats and dogs really can get along!!! lol. I love wolves and Tigers. One of my dreams is to raise a wolf pup and a tiger cub. I need the property first. One of my friends in high school helped raise a black leopard cub after his mom wanted nothing to do with him. They have newfies. The newfies did a great deal of playing and providing comfort and whatnot when the humans werent around for the cub to interact with. Basically after he was old enough to not be fed every 2 hours and they were allowed to take naps. He brought pictures to school all the time. Nothing like walking out and seeing a black leopard cub riding shot gun to pick him up from school!
