Man that puppy is cute!!!
Yeah, ticks here are dark grey or black when engorged. Never seen a light tan one like that. Our ticks are brown or black when flattened. But usually I only see deer ticks trying to get us when hiking, luckily we don't have ticks in our own yard or dogs.

hahaha I actually like bugs n stuff..so it doesn't gross me out, but I don't like them on animals.
Ticks can live without a feeding host for something like 8 years. I read it somewhere but not sure if it is true.
