![]() ![]() This is our super-awesome guy, Saggio. He's almost 6-months-old (a week shy) and just finished his last of the puppy shots. His official weight as of Monday was 64.4 lbs. He is our first GSD, and we're just wondering how big he might get. The vet told us he's a "big guy," and guesses he'll be around 80-85 lbs. I trust his judgment, but I thought I'd ask you wonderful GSD-lovers what you think. Thanks for any input you might have! |

I don't think anybody can give you an answer that will be anything but a guess but what line is he. He looks like an American GSD to me and my males have been 95-115 lbs. 85 give or take 5 lbs is ideal if you ask me.

Yes, you're correct, he's an American GSD. We're hoping 80-90 lbs, but some people have told us that he could be 100+. (We're happy no matter what...) Anyway, I had a feeling a guess was as good as we would get -- but we're curious all the same!

I think more information needs to be known to just give a guess, such as:
How big (weight/height) were the parents? Grandparents? Previous off-spring? Is your dog neutered/spayed? What is the height at the withers (top of the shoulder) of your dog?

He's very handsome and so photogenic! His size is dependent on his genetics and some get their size and weight early some later, and if he's neutered yet or not- lots of factors to figure in. But he'll be what he will be- a gorgeous boy no matter what!

He's very handsome, that's for sure!
@Saggio - do you know what he weighed at 4 months? I'm wondering because I too have been trying to figure out what Xander will weigh - I think like most people said it's only a matter of time will tell. At 16 weeks Xander weighed 42lbs. |
