Default The Good (Horsey) Life (Non-GSD)

Is there any better way to spend a warm spring afternoon? I have been spending time with the dogs in the morning and riding like a fiend in the afternoon. I got a new-to-me dressage saddle for Mother's Day!

I love horse photos. I was lucky enough to catch the Rolex event on TV yesterday. Always love watching that.

Great photo! What kind of saddle was it? I love dressage saddles, they are so comfy.

My new-to-me saddle is a Sommer Diplomat. I had been riding in an Isabel Wintec (dressage) saddle, which I liked. But I found this Sommer on consignment at the local tack store and wanted it in the worst possible way. I took it out on trial, and loved how it fit me. But it was just a tad too wide for my gelding. So, I took it back to the tack store. But I would keep going back and looking at it and touching it. I tried other saddles, but nothing felt as wonderful as this one.

It took me over two months to bite the bullet and buy it. I sold two saddles and raised half the price I wanted to offer, and then my ever loving DH gifted me with the other half for Mother's Day.

I was lucky enough to have it fitted to my horse by a woman up from Salt Lake City for our big dressage show last weekend. It feels freaking FABULOUS! I could live in this saddle.

My trainer/instructor sold a horse to Karen O'Connor last fall. I wish I had the nerve for eventing. But my tubby, re-rider body would literally fall apart if I even attempted something like that!
