Over here weight is not a symptom of PCOS... in Germany you get PCOS because you are overweight. That is how people over here look at it. And on top of that most people don't believe that it's the hormons. Most people think you are using PCOS as an excuse for being overweight.

I have PCOS for over 16 years now and I haven't always been overweight. I found out about the infertility when I was 19 or 20 years old and I actually thought I am pregnant because I haven't had my period in over two months and thats when I found out that I can't have babies.
Right now my weight is 290lbs. It's horrible... it is a big number... and I even thought about surgery and thats where I got a lot of "Oh, it's the easy way out." blah blah blah. It's not an easy way out. It takes a lot to undergo surgery and stick to the nutrition plans and what not.
It's life changing and all I want is to be healthy, like everybody else that is suffering from it.
No one cares why people are the way they are everyone just loves to judge a book by it's cover.

Leigh I think what you said was very sweet. Also do not feel bad Mrs. K seems to be just fine with it and honeslty I'm glad to have something else in common with some from the boards. While yes some people can help things some people can not but we all get lumped together.

You get PCOS from being overweight so now it's like blood pressure or something? I get sooo tired of everything being blamed on being overweight. Yeah ignorance may be bliss but it sure isn't for the people that have to deal with the ignorant people! lol.

I'm glad your open to talk about it quite honestly there are so many people that make is such a taboo thing it's kind of upsetting. No one wants to ask questions or bring it up so they never learn about different things then act like idiots and say stupid things because they never learned about it. Then people that have the infertility issues feel like they can't talk about it and have to be ashamed of it quite honestly it's enough to deal with on your own let alone having to feel embarassed or ashamed over it I would rather inform someone on things then have them walking around ignorant and possibly saying something hurtful to someone who was just diagnosed and hasn't learned to handle it yet.

it doesn't help when ppl like Jennifer Aniston tell you how they lost those last pesky 7 lbs by eating baby food. HOW is that healthy? I'd rather be overweight than skinny and eating baby food!

There were times in history that skinny women were shunned as weak and frail. Women w/ curves were the hot ticket... maybe we can get that a back someday? Marilyn Monroe was a size 12 and ppl still rave about how beautiful and perfect she was.. because she had some meat on her bones. Now, size 12 is plus size! What happened in the last 40-50 yrs?
