Default My First Dog Show

So my mom and I, along with her ex-boyfriend, all went to the dog show at the Phoenix Stadium today. I had so much fun!

We were there for about 6 hours. Mom was getting bored around the last hour. Haha.

I took some agility photos and some videos of the GSDs. Got a ton of pictures. (Took almost 800!)

One of the GSDs in particular looked SUPER weak in the back end - just a puppy. My mom even noticed it. (She's a ding-dong when it comes to dog conformation stuff). She asked me what was wrong with it.
There was one boy that I was just head over heels for. Turns out he was an American show line/German line cross. Not sure if he was German working or German show, but there was German lines in there! lol

It made me mad when the handlers would yank on their leads or smack the dogs in the face to try and make them cooperate. Or when we'd walk past the groomers with the longer haired dogs, they'd jerk them by their beards (like the schnauzers and stuff) to make them stop moving.

It was hard to not pet all of the dogs! I made sure to ask first, since I know (well, for one, they're all strange dogs to me), and a huge majority of them had been groomed and I'm sure they'd be none too happy if I went in and rustled up their fur. lol

Anyway, on with a couple photos!

Tell me - is this normal???

What an odd looking horse....

Saved my two favorite photos for last.

That was a weird looking stack of that GSD's hind leg. But I have to admit he was gorgeous looking.

Let me just say that as a professional pet groomer for over 20 years AND the owner of a Standard Schnauzer who would like nothing more than to wriggle the entire time I am trying to shape her eyebrows....sometimes a quick movement or a slight poke to the ribcage with your finger is the only way to get that 5 seconds of stillness while you deftly snip away with your VERY sharp scissors near the dogs eyes.

It's easy to judge without ever having experienced it!

The shepherd's face is very handsome, and his teeth are gorgeously white (I wonder the age?).

But those back legs are shameful. I don't know what kind of "stack" they're trying to pull off, but it certainly isn't accenting anything good about that dog. I hope for the dog's sake that this was just some kind of horribly unflattering/awkward motion shot.

Most all of the GSDs stood like that. Even when they were properly stacked (That picture was when he was standing around) the hind legs were at awkward angles.
