Thumbs up *Got Grass* non-GSD/pic heavy/playing with new camera

One lone area of grass in our whole backyard & they come ! Many times during the day. It's a wonder there is even grass left in this spot !

Nice pictures! Your white balance looks good :-)

One trick I read about that is good to remember especially when photographing animals where you have limited time (I'm sooo not good at getting decent animal shots, but I can at least pass on info even if I'm not good at practicing it) is if you shoot in "A" mode (aperture) the speed will get chosen for you. Then you can use the +/- button by the shutter to adjust the exposure quickly and you can get off a few shots (hopefully) of the same thing quickly with a couple different options.

I've read (and found) that it's better to OVERexpose your photos if you have to (of course the goal is to not over or under expose) rather than UNDERexpose because if you end up having to lighten the photo up some, the dark edges/shadows will turn out grainy.

Oh, and I always like to shoot in "vivid" (I assume that's an option on the D3000) because it makes the colors pop.

Anyhow, I could go on all day with "tips" although as I've found it's much easier to read and learn than read learn and apply.
