No worries. He's back, and mama's got a new toy. You will soon be very tired of Pike pics I am sure

What did you need to learn about the new camera to get better pictures? I have a Canon Rebel XT that's a few years old and have started thinking about my next camera (it may actually be a couple MORE years before I can afford it). I had originally thought I was going to get the 40D and then they came out with the 50D. There were some features I liked and it seemed like the better choice for me - not enough of an upgrade for someone who already had a 40D, but definitely worthwhile for me.

I've been reading about the 7D and I need to find a good comparison site to see if it's worth it to spend the extra money vs the 50d. I usually use the various auto modes because I'm still a novice photographer. I'm always concerned that a better camera will be too much for my limited skills, and the extra features will not only be lost on me, but could actually become frustrating if I'm not able to take pictures at least as good as I could with my old camera, so the learning curve is something I'm interested in. Yes, I want an idiot proof camera that takes great pictures!
