Tim, it is to decrease the equipment reliance on the more prey driven dogs. Plus, it really goes back to the way we used to do it years ago, and I liked the focus on the man much more. The other thing is much more muzzle work once the D drives are being used by dog.

As I suspected, just wanted to verify where you were coming from. Sounds like you are doing good work!

Granted I'm training presently for IPO, but I still train both of mine with an eye towards them being able to work in a personal defense capacity as well. Obviously I need them to target the sleeve, and *only* the sleeve when a sleeve is on, but we also do a lot of muzzle and suit work so they engage just as readily when a sleeve or even any protective gear is not in the picture. With the intensity comes a definite point penalty in IPO, but I'm ok with that and would rather have a judge or helper remark on my dogs' intensity than their perfect OB.
