Default The first US K9Pro certification of 2013

A crisp, blue, Texas sky, and a jolt from a shot of black coffee is hard to beat for kick starting a beautiful day. Unless of course, you add crisp, sharp, dedicated dogs, showing off how they defend their family! Now that is a recipe for a great day!

The puppy groups are divided into 6 months and under, and 7 months, to 11 months. Our young pups were all very well behaved on leash, and quit...e aware of how to attack the "bouncing bunny" when commanded. We had the GSDs' you'd expect. We had a Cane Corso and just because we like to do things differently we also had an Airedale pup, who not only 'attacked' on command but also pounced on one of the judges shoes when ever they tried to take a step.

But the star of the puppy class came in the older division with the GSD Rowdy. Chris Miller, Benton, Arkansas, demonstrated her dog, with a solid performance on the Civil Alert and Attack on handler, no doubt a solid training program that will put Rowdy in the winners circle at more K9Pro certifications as he earns his own certification.

In the Training Division, some stiffer competition began taking shape. The crowd pleaser was a GSD named Hogan. Bill Staley from Waxahatchie, Tx. had used Hogan as a guard dog, and he was! In the Civil Agitation Hogan displayed every tooth in his head, as well as a few he may have borrowed from his dad. This dog was serious!

Bill said he had a really good time and was proud of his dog. In fact he was so impressed, he thought he would continue training Hogan in Personal Protection work, several decoys were seen shaking their heads at that moment.

The PP and Patrol divisions would really get the excitement ratcheted up, but I'll have to try to get that one up tomorrow, till then Listen Well, Bite Hard!!!
