Default Sda?

Have any of you participated in, or had experience with Service Dogs of America? There is a club in my neck of the woods and they are holding a trial in November. Just wondering if the titles are recognized by anyone?

I would go/train if there was a group close to me. IMO~SDA isn't as precise as the ScH rules, there are differences in the titles as well. I like it because it is more "real life" type training than the patterns/repetitions of schutzhund.
Not sure what you mean about the titles recognized? Go visit the group and see if that is what you want to do? I hope the SDA takes on a bigger role for training, but it seems the organization needs some tweaking. Maybe more members/groups will help with the growth.
There is a new club forming near me, but I think for now, I'll stay with the SchH style training/maybe after we trial/title we'll go for the SDA trials.

Welcome to the SDA Database

As far as a scorebook type thing, you just pay $25 to be in the database w/ your dog and then anytime you trial it is entered in the database.
Club dues-fees are where the membership is, not like WDA or UScA.

We've titled 3 dogs in SDA. Will probably do it with our young dogs too in the future if there are trials available. I do love the program, just wish it was more widespread and organized.

As far as the titles being recognized, no, not really. SDA used to be affiliated with UKC, and at that time the titles had as much recognition as any other UKC title. Now they are no longer affiliated. AKC, UKC, etc... don't recognize them, but then they don't recognize SchH or anything else outside their own organizations. The SchH organizations don't recognize anything outside of SchH for the most part. No one recognizes PSA or Iron Dog or many others either, so SDA is not at all unique in that regard. With dog sports, each venue is in many ways a island unto itself.

I have done SDA titles with two dogs and currently still do SDA with one of those dogs and have a young dog that will probably start later on.

As for the titles being recognized, as Chris pointed out it's really no different than any other titles which are not really recognized outside of their own org/kennel club either.

Like any dogsport venue, it is what you make of it. I take it more seriously as do many people on this forum. This is my primary venue for my current adult dog, our main goal. I did his foundation in SchH because SchH is so much more particular but the type of dog that I like to own and train doesn't necessarily change and I do not believe a good dog would struggle or be ruined by pursuing both. I did the foundation with a SchH club then did the entry level SDA titles when he was two years old and am now continuing with both.
