Our club, South Jersey Working Dog Club, will host a UKC/SDA protection dog sport trial next week on 11/7,8. trial will be in Port Republic, NJ approximately twenty minutes from Atlantic City. Very nice field and appears to be large entry.(Over 25 dogs for two days). Directions to trial are posted on SJWorkingDogClub.org.
Judge will be Jack Rayl. Many advanced titles will be attempted, by the competitors. Beautiful field. |

Was a very successful trial this past weekend. We had thirty competitors for Sat and Sun. Many fine performances turned in for the Protection One event and Police Dog One event. Some 12 people also got their Family Obedience title.
ps Chris I got a chance to see your progeny female and boy is she a little tank with a gorgeous head. Fantastic temperament also. Will see at Club meeting Wed. about some pics if they are available. Cliff |

One other thing that really makes SDA a good dog sport, IMO. The first place dog (with Plaque) in the Protection Alert title was an AKC Champion Doberman who is also a CD. The first place dog in Protection One was a Policeman with a great Malinois. The first place dog in Police Dog One title was a workingline Doberman.(The second and third PD1 dogs were GS, one of which I bred...LOL)
But my point is we had showline/police officers/workingline people all competing together AND being successful. To me this is a beautiful thing.....(I'm not anti-show dog as many people think, I am anti dogs in working breeds that don't work. We had a blast as did the competitors and spectators...peace! |

I just recently attended my first SDA trail and was very impressed. Mixture of dog breeds/handler backgrounds and a high standard for judging.
Plus everyone had fun! For me anyways, it really seems to be more about the dogs. |
