I've only seen 1 fursaver used at an AKC Obedience/Rally trial. Not sure if it is permitted or not. I stick with martingales or plain chain slip collars.

I have put CDs on 4 different GSDs now, and CGCs on maybe 8?, and have never used anything BUT a fursaver. Never had anyone comment on it either - except one judge who said that the collar and the German style about turns were a giveaway that AKC was not my primary focus
- he also said he'd never seen such nice recalls and focus (this at a GSD specialty) from a GSD in AKC ring)...and that all the points lost were by me, not the dog for the about turns and extra commands LOLLee

Yes, fursavers are fine, just don't live ring them! I have had comments several times when using them but only once was it a negative comment and this was before we went into the ring. I could tell that they were not going to be fair most likely, so I pulled my dog right then and there. Most judges at AKC trials make it a point to come talk to me about how they remember what GSD's in obedience used to be back in the day.... and how they love to see the German working line dogs come into the ring.

I use fursavors all the time on my dogs in AKC. Never had a problem with it.

There is nothing wrong with using a fur saver and you can attach your leash to any part of it you want including the live ring.

I show my dobes exclusively on their fursavers most of the time (though i have used the small link ones as well). The only question I ever got was from another competitor who questioned whether my collar was legal, and I of course questioned why it would NOT be. No judge has ever questioned me and typically only has marvelous things to say about my dog anyway
The last time I showed my puppy, there was an AKC rep there and he came over to talk to me about my leash and footwork (all good things) and HE didn't say anything about the collar either In fact, he said I was one of the only people who didn't use my leash and collar to drag the dog around!
