sizing dumbbells...

ok, I know that the length that Singe needs is 2 1/2 inches. But can anyone recommend a bit size (diameter?) After testing a couple different ones at training on Saturday, my instructor said that she would probably try 3" ends for him as well.
With 2" ends, he only wanted to pick it up by the end. She said the bigger end would help curb that.

So, suggestions??

I had the same problem with Jag, so I went to the 3" ends. He got much better at picking it up by the bit with the bigger dumbell.

Frank uses the J&J 12 x 10 size dumbbell, it has 3 inch ends, 2 1/2 bit, and 7/8 diameter on the bit.
He still tries to pick it up by the ends at times. Truthfully I think no matter how wide the ends are if he could get his mouth open that wide he'd try to pick it up that way.
