Hi everyone, I have a (hopefully) simple question:
I am entering my first obedience trial, and the entry form gives me the option of Breed/Obed #1 or Obed #2. I've looked and looked, and cannot find the difference explained anywhere. Is Obed #1 breed specific? Is it just a matter of two different groups for judging's sake? Is it an experience issue? Thanks ![]() Julie |

What show?? I'll take a look if you give me the club name and date.
Sounds like there are 2 trials the same day. Are there 2 separate event numbers?

The show is the Michigan Winter Dog Classic. Here is the link:
Michigan Winter Dog Classic There are separate event numbers for the two different obedience classes, on each day. |

Okay. I read the premium. I heard AKC was going to start allowing more than one trial per day.
Thursday only has one trial. Friday, Saturday and Sunday have two trials. So, you can enter up to 7 trials (if your class is offered) during the weekend. How many are you entering? (See page 17 of the premium.) http://www.infodog.com/prm/2020/prm2...mode=bookmarks

Yes, AKC
![]() Here is the Premium. (entry form is page 49) I would like to enter her in the obedience trial on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. There is a list of boxes at the top. Since it is the same dog and the same event (just different days), I can do it all on one form, right? This is what I was going to fill in: BREED: German Shepherd Dog VARIETY: (left blank) SEX: Female DOG SHOW CLASS: 90000 CLASS DIVISION: (left blank) ADDITIONAL CLASSES: (I can leave this blank, because I checked multiple boxes in the list, right?) OBEDIENCE CLASS: Novice RALLY CLASS: (left blank) JR. SHOWMANSHIP CLASS: (left blank) |

Yes, you can do it on one form. If you want to enter 3 trials, you do not need three separate days. You can enter 2 on Friday and one on Saturday, or 2 on Saturday and one on Sunday.

I just checked the AKC website to verify that there are 7 different trials over the weekend, and there are.

Hmmm...okay, let me ask your opinion on this, if I may
![]() My line of thinking was that this is a young pup (7 months old). This will not only be her first show, but mine as well. I was thinking about trying to spread out the classes to one per day, thinking it would keep it from being 'too much' the first time out. I was going to take her to the show on Thursday, to let her get used to the noise and commotion and excitement level, but not show her that day. However, I gather that Saturday and Sunday will be the most busy and I do like the idea of showing her on the calmer days. Would you do 3 classes on Thursday and Friday, rather than spread them out over the last three (busier) days with a day to check things out? |

My opinion....it's tempting to enter a lot of trials, but it can get expensive real quick, especially if it's YOUR first time and your dog isn't quite ready.
I went to these trials once....the time I went, the shows were HUGE, and noisy. Had to park far away and had to pay for that too. There was even a flyball tournament going on in one of the rooms! Obedience was in its own room, so a bit less distraction there. These shows close this Wednesday, so if you ARE entering them you should probably enter online.
